Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) is a CIA rookie who is manning a safe house in Cape Town, South Africa, when Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) the CIA's most wanted rogue agent is captured and taken to the safe house. During Frost's interrogation, the safe house is overtaken by mercenaries who want Frost. Weston and Frost escape and must stay out of the gunman's sight until they can get to another safe house.
Here's what I think:
Of course nearly every movie that Denzel Washington has ever starred in has been deemed great, Safe House is no exception. I think the casting was brilliant! Denzel Washington plays an intelligent, intimidating, and dangerous ex-spy turned traitor. While Ryan Reynolds plays the new guy, desperate to get his feet wet. We all know timing is everything, so naturally the universe throws the two of them together for a life-altering adventure.
I was on the edge of my seat so often during this movie that I scrapped the idea of sitting back altogether. The action - great. The story - excellent. If you are looking for a movie that will keep you interested for 115 minutes straight, Safe House is a safe bet.
