The road to motherhood for some is not easy, it can take a considerable amount of time, energy and money to get there. One thing that you will need above all others is positive energy. This can be hard at times, and it is okay to have a good cry now and again. One thing is for sure, that no matter what the outcome of your fertility efforts, you will know that you did your very best and stayed strong throughout.
Here are some tips on how you can keep positive throughout this often challenging time.
1. Leave the house
There is nothing worse than staying inside the house when you’re not feeling your best. Fresh air can do wonders for your mood. Plus, you might even get a little exercise in there to get the blood pumping. A quick walk around your neighbourhood can also give you time to think about other things. If you stay at home all you are likely to do is to stew over things and not make a great deal of progress.
2. Talk it out with a good friend
This is not something that you can go through alone. If you have a partner that you can talk to then that is ideal as well. They will be able to help you through your journey to pregnancy. You will need more support than just your partner though. They will also be under a lot of strain.
This is where it can be really helpful to meet up with a good friend and chat about your feelings. Or, not. You might just want to chat with them about something else entirely. This can be a great way to get out of your head and even find some perspective.
You may already be a great cook, or you might have not idea what you’re doing in the kitchen. It doesn’t matter, cooking can be a really good stress reliever. Not only that, but you will be able to explore some new recipes that you haven’t tried before. Cooking for yourself and your partner is also a way to ensure that you are eating a balanced diet. Your doctor will be able to provide some guidance here of what you should be eating and what you should avoid.
4. Spend time with friends
Give yourself some time to enjoy yourself. One thing that you should not do is to focus solely on getting pregnant and nothing else. This will put too much pressure on you and it is not healthy. Having a good gossip with your friends is a good way to break the tension.
This can be a great way to give you some much-needed perspective on the problem. By doing something for someone else and you’ll totally feel less awful about yourself and your situation. This is not exactly the reason that people want you to volunteer in the first place, but what difference does that make. You’re giving up your time to help someone and if that makes you feel good to then everybody wins.
6. Have sex for fun again
Sex may have become a task over the past few months and it is a real shame when that happens. It makes both parties feel like there is something missing. When it comes down to it, sex should be fun, but it is understandable why it seems like a chore now. It’s best to talk about these problems with your partner and see if there is any way that you can relight the spark again. This is easier said than done, but with a little imagination, you may be surprised how much of a mood booster this can be.
